Election Guide Part 3 - Mayor's Race

Happy Tuesday Activists! We hope your week is off to a good start and that you're enjoying the beautiful Philadelphia weather. With four weeks to go to the primary election, today we have the information on candidates running for mayor. It seemed only a few weeks ago that there were around 85 people running! But now, after a few have ended their campaigns, and with the fundraising numbers having been disclosed, we have a more manageable set of options and the list is down to five major candidates. We sent a questionnaire to each of the candidates that covered the topics you listed in the candidate survey we sent around a month or so ago. We created a new website page devoted to the the major candidates' answers (one major candidate did not answer our questionnaire) that you can check out below. Since the primary will likely decide our next mayor, you can help make sure we have a robust election process by telling your neighbors and friends how important the May 16th election is! And you can give them the important dates and information below and in our past newsletters here and here.

ELECTION DEADLINES! Here are the three key dates: May 1 -- Deadline to register to vote. Need to register or change your address or name? Do it here. May 9 - Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot. BUT DON'T WAIT! Do it now so you have time to make sure your ballot is returned in time to be counted. May 16 -- Election Day How will you vote? Voting at the polls? Polls are open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. If you're not sure where to vote, find your polling place here. Voting by mail? If you haven't already, sign up to vote by mail here - ASAP! When will the mail-in ballots be mailed out to us? Woo-hoo! In a call today with the City Commissioners office, I was told that all the lawsuits are over and the mail-in ballots will be sent out in the next "couple of days!"

PHILADELPHIA MAYOR'S RACE This high-stakes race has received a lot of coverage. So. Many. Ads. And you can see just one of the many summaries created by news outlets here. BUT we have the major candidates' detailed answers to our questionnaire on the important issues, written in the candidates' own words on our new website page here. Check it out for the answers to your questions.
