A king is only a king if we bow down. Reverend William Barber - one of our speakers at our No Kings rally.
Happy Friday, Activists!
We're in the final stages of preparing for tomorrow's big, peaceful, non-violent protest! We will show that in this country we don't have kings; we have The People. And the more people who show up tomorrow, the more we show that wannabe king who has the power. So how do we know who has the power? Let's go to our first president: "The power under the Constitution will always be in the people." George Washington
Let's use our voices tomorrow and show that wannabe king that we have the power. Please know that we continue to do everything we can to ensure we have a non-violent event that energizes us all for the challenges to come. Tips for you below.
![]() Here's the What, When & What To Do
* Tomorrow we start at Love Park, at 15th and JFK Boulevard at Noon. Then we'll march to the Art Museum for the rally. Sign up here. And after you sign up, tell your friends to sign up too!
* Taking SEPTA? We've asked the folks at SEPTA to add more trains to the suburban lines. We have not gotten word back. Regardless, please plan to leave earlier than you normally would to ensure you'll have a train with capacity.
* We will provide porta potties, water stations, a medics tent, and ADA sections with chairs in front of the large video screens.
* Bring your refillable water bottles. It's likely to be pretty warm tomorrow and you'll want to stay hydrated. The City will provide water fountains along the march so please bring your water bottles with you and you can refill them there. We will have a limited number of cans of water set up under a tent as well.
* Be safe. ➡️ Before you come, watch this helpful video from ACLU's deescalation training this week. (The first 30 seconds are the instructions in Spanish and then it switches to English). ➡️ You can also read this comprehensive article from The Philadelphia Citizen, listing safety tips and the list of your rights.
* We still need marshals/peacekeepers to help direct the crowd and deescalate potential conflict. Sign up here. No experience is necessary and you will be trained and have all the information you need for success.
DON'T SIT DOWN IN A PROTEST
Many of you have been asking whether the plan in case of a problem is that you should sit down. However, there are many reasons not to sit down, like giving up your mobility in a difficult situation, and many benefits to stay standing, like being able to just leave the situation, or follow police or marshal instructions. It's condensed in the graphic below.
