Happy Friday, Activists!
We hope you've had a great week. Today we're working to defeat the Trump tax scam.
After months pledging that Trump would sign his Medicaid-slashing, billionaire-enriching reconciliation bill by July 4, Senate Republicans are now sprinting just to line up a vote by that date -- with weeks or months of back-and-forth with the House likely to follow. Their delay is due, in large part, to our collective pressure on Congress and our work making this bill politically toxic. So let's keep it up! We offer you three ways to do it below.
If you missed photos and video from Tuesday, here is the link to Tuesday's newsletter.
Sorry about the location error for the protest in the original!
The photo below, may be my favorite, is from the New York Times and I forgot to credit it in Tuesday's newsletter. ![]() |
CORRECTION: TOMORROW - Protest Against U.S. Involvement In Iran/Israel War
Tomorrow afternoon several peace groups are joining together to protest any U.S. involvement in the Iran/Israel war. Polling shows that the majority of Americans do not want us to enter or support this war. You can come out to a protest that speaks against the harm we know will come to the people of those two countries - as it already has. We don't want to repeat the mistakes of the Iraq War and get involved in what's potentially a forever war.
Here is the schedule for tomorrow, Saturday, June 21 3:00 - Meet at 5th and Market (not McCormick' office) 3:30 - March to City Hall with a rally there starting at 4:00
TAKE A BUS RIDE TO D.C. TO DEFEAT THE BIG TAX SCAM
The big disgusting bill is now being rewritten in the Senate before heading back to the House for a second vote. We want to maximize senators' changes and delay their process as much as we can -- because every change they make, and every day they take, will make it that much harder for the bill to pass both chambers.
During the week of June 23rd, the Senate will be voting on Trump's Big Bloated Bill to cut Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital services for working families in order to give billionaires even larger tax breaks. So SEIU is providing buses to go to D.C. for a day, to stop, delay, or make it as difficult as possible for them - at the airport when they arrive, outside their offices, at their fundraisers, everywhere they go: volunteers will be there to remind of them of the people and lives that are at stake, and to hold them accountable. SEIU will provide food for attendees, and lodging for anyone staying overnight.
Buses leave as follows - take your pick of days: Monday (6/23), Wednesday (6/25), or Thursday (6/26).• Pickup time: 9:00 AM• Return to PA: Approximately 6:00 PMPickup locations:• Philadelphia: Love Park, 1501 JFK Blvd• Allentown: 5050 Tilghman St, Allentown (PA Joinboard Office)• Harrisburg: 150 S 43rd St (AFSCME Conference Center)
MAKE THE CALLS TO DEFEAT THE BIG TAX SCAM
If you can't go to D.C. to confront Republican senators in person, you can make some calls and send emails. Call our senators and demand they slow down the process and fight for SNAP and Medicaid. Senator Fetterman has said he is a NO vote because of the cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, but call and tell him to work to slow down the process to passage so voters have a chance to see the harm it will do to them. And definitely call Senator McCormick, who is a YES vote so far. They must reject the budget-busting bill from the House.

PHONE BANK TO DEFEAT THE BIG TAX SCAM June 23-26
Indivisible is organizing phone banks next week to call Medicaid recipients to urge them to connect with their senators and tell them to vote NO on the Trump Tax Scam.
These phone banks are organized, along with WFP, MoveOn and other organizations, to mobilize the very Americans who this bill could harm the most and to increase the pressure on their senators.
When: Monday - Thursday, June 23-26, 6-8 pm ET/3-5 pm PT. Sign up for a shift or two here.
