Happy Friday, Activists!

We hope you're looking forward to a great holiday weekend.

We have many voter registration drives for you to pick from and we'll have more soon.  Plus we have all of the election protection roles you can take for help voters at the polls and beyond.  Check them out below and see what works for you.  We promise - it will relieve your anxiety!

And we want to acknowledge the life and work of Gloria Steinem, the amazing and glorious activist who was one of the founders of the modern women's movement who died on Wednesday.  We are grateful for her groundbreaking work to promote the rights of women, which were ignored and belittled for far too long and are still left very much unfinished.  We all need to continue the work.

CALL SOME VOTERS!

Phone banking and talking to other humans is a key driver of votes.  You can do just that by taking your pick below. Training is always part of the beginning of the sessions.

1.  Let's go to Michigan!  Indivisible's phone bank to Michigan voters to support Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate, Will Lawrence for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, and Christina Hines for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.  September 9, 5:30 pm.  Sign up here and learn more about it.

2.  Join Turn PA Blue and make calls all over Pennsylvania. Several days per week so  take your pick!  Sign up here and learn more about it.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP SECURE THE VOTE

We all need to do our part!  So many roles to fill!

We had a GREAT voter protection meeting on Tuesday with the PA Dems - thank you for coming! - and below are the links to the roles you can take that were described in the meeting.  We need to do this to protect our elections!  We are the ones coming to the rescue!

BE A POLL OBSERVER

Poll Observers are the eyes and ears on the ground at polling places across the state on election day. They assist voters and ensure that every eligible voter can cast a ballot.  The PA Dems Voter Protection Team will train, assign, and support you to make sure that you are as effective as possible on Election Day.  Sign up here with the PA Dems for the training and to learn more.

VOTER ASSISTANCE TRAINING

This virtual session is required for anyone volunteering with one or more of the following PA Dems Voter Protection programs: Voter Assistance Hotline, Voter Assistance Textline, Ballot Cure.  Sign up to help make sure voters get their ballots counted!

When:  Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, at various times.

Sign up here.

ELECTION OFFICE MONITOR TRAININGS

As an Election Office Monitor, you will be an outside observer of county election office locations during mail ballot voting to gather information about office procedures, monitor for issues, assist voters, and report observations to PA Dems staff for follow up and resolution. This role requires attending one 60-minute virtual training.** This year, we expect more satellite election offices and a greater interest in over-the-counter voting. EOMs will play a crucial role in protecting the earliest stage of the process. Shifts for this role are allotted in 4 hour increments.  Sign up here.

BALLOT COUNT CANVASS OBSERVER TRAININGS Beginning on September 16

As a Canvass Observer, you will help ensure every vote is counted by monitoring the pre-canvassing and canvassing of ballots, providing progress updates, and reporting any irregularities to the Voter Protection Team. This role requires attending one 60 minute virtual training.** Shifts for this role are allotted in 6 hour increments.

Sign up here.

VOLUNTEER RECRUITERS Right Now!

Help us call prospective volunteers to encourage them to get involved. These are the friendliest phone banks ever. We are reaching out to prior volunteers to help them re-engage. We will train and support you as you make calls. Sign up here.

HELP VOTERS CURE THEIR BALLOTS - Counties outside Philly

Every single vote matters in this year's elections.  You will be canvassing Democratic voters whose mail ballot has an error, and therefore, their vote will not count without intervention. This is for flippable districts so canvassing will be in the counties surrounding Philadelphia but not in the city itself

Every canvasser will have an easily accessible live support system at all times, and of course you can go with a partner.

Canvassing is in October, after the online training in September/October.  The zoom training is less than an hour.  Sign up here.

NEXT THURSDAY - LEARN TO DEFEAT IMMIGRANT DETENTION CENTERS

Our friends at Indivisible Mt. Airy Neighbors are hosting a meeting to discuss how to fight back against detention centers and win that fight. We're sick of watching what the regime is doing to our communities and together we can use our power to fight hard against them.  See all the info below and sign up using the QR code or use this link.

SAVE THE DATE

HEAR FROM SUFFS CREATOR AND STAR SHAINA TAUB!

This is exciting news!  We are thrilled to announce this today because it's the anniversary of the certification of the Nineteenth Amendment, giving all U.S. women the right to vote. --  August 26, 1920.

Here's the exciting part:  Shaina Taub, the brilliant creator and star of the musical SUFFS, which describes the women's suffrage movement, will join us on zoom to answer our questions about her and her show.  And it is quite a story!  The show is exhilarating and inspiring and parallels much of what we are going through now - and shows what our activism has brought and can bring again this year.

This is an in-person meeting for us and we are still working on the location.  We will watch Shaina on zoom together and you'll be able to submit questions.  You won't want to miss this!  We are making this a fundraiser too for our work for the elections.  We'll have some hors d'oeuvres and adult and kids beverages, plus some of the music from the show and some video clips too.  More details soon!

To get you started, you can watch the recording of the Broadway show on PBS Great Performances (on Passport) if you support PBS.  Enjoy!

When:  October 28, 5:30 pm

Where:  The location is to be determined.

We will have the signup once we have the location.
