Happy Tuesday, Activists!
We hope you're having a good week. Are you into the World Cup? We sure are! I can'get enough of all the matches and especially the videos of folks from other countries glazing the people of the United States! Here are a few samples. Do you have more? Reply to this email and send them along!!
The joy these games are bringing - here in the U.S. and with all the folks from other countries - is so much more than I anticipated. And we deserve some joy!
Here are some videos for your viewing pleasure -- Sound on! Miami and the Scotts! Have you ever seen a crowd more joyous? A World Cup Anthem. We ARE one! Those crazy Norwegians are rowing! Okay, just enjoy these Aussies! Impressive Iranian Remembrance. We see their strength.
Okay, time to get back to work. These are just a few - send us your favorites by replying to this email!
CALLS TO ACTION
1. Continue to urge your Members of Congress to demand dignity for detained immigrants at Delaney Hall and detention centers across the US. Just last week, Members of Congress were denied access to immigrants detained at Delaney Hall during an oversight visit after previously being allowed to speak with people inside. We must insist that Members of Congress do everything in their power to escalate their oversight actions and bring attention to the horrifying conditions and human rights abuses at Delaney Hall and Trump’s concentration camps around the country. They must: 1. Gain access to people in detention at Delaney Hall. Call your Rep. And if you live in Congressman Boyle's district, be sure to call him and ask him to go to Moshannon. He hasn't gone as far as we know, even though people in his district are there. 2. Use their platforms to draw attention to the inhumane conditions at detention centers across the country. 3. Not approve a single additional dime to the detention machine, ICE, or Border Patrol.
2. Keep calling our US senators and your US Representative and urge them to oppose AI mass surveillance. FISA, an infamous spying law that opened the door for warrantless surveillance of American citizens, expired earlier this month. Unless our Members of Congress want to be complicit in the continued chilling of our freedom of speech, they must hold the line for our civil liberties.

NEXT SATURDAY - TELL THE WORLD WE WANT ICE OUT! ![]() Right now the eyes of the world are on North America - including Philadelphia. We have an historic opportunity to force the issue of ICE’s human rights abuses onto the global stage. We'll be on Darien Street and Pattison Avenue on June 27th to do just that.
Project World Cup Spotlight is mobilizing non-violent protests, hosted by a variety of local organizations, in eight World Cup cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico to harness the power of the world’s media. Our group is hosting this one, on the day of one of the six World Cup games in Philadelphia.
To be clear, we love the World Cup. We don't like ICE.
Media from across the globe will be present and local voices can shape international narratives. This is an opportunity to influence global perception and elevate our community's concerns. We believe the principles of fair play shouldn’t stop at the stadium walls. A disregard for human rights is unacceptable, and we must make that clear to the world.
Where: NOTE: We have a slightly new location - down the block at Darien Street and Pattison Avenue on the sidewalk; across the street from Lincoln Financial Field (now called Philadelphia Stadium) on the side of Citizens Bank Park When: This Saturday, June 27, 2:30 - 4:00 (the game begins at 5:00)
SIGN UP TO READ THE ORIGINAL PRESIDENT'S HOUSE PANELS!
You can tell the regime what you think about their pathetic actions by signing up for this project. Remember when we told you about Sheri Utain, who was featured when Rachel Maddow profiled this project, as Sheri read passages from the President's House panels aloud? You can sign up to do it too!
The Old City Remembers project is how you do it. Volunteers take shifts at the President's House site on Independence Mall, reading the text of the original panels aloud, and inviting passers-by to do the same. The organizers will continue to need more volunteers as tourist season heats up!
Check out the project at this link, then click the included link to review the onboarding slides and take the quiz, then tell them you're interested in being a volunteer! It's all at this link.
