We're on the March to November 8!

Happy Wednesday, Activists! We hope your holiday-shortened week is off to a good start. I wanted to take a minute to tell you a couple of stories from our canvassing travels. The first story is actually about registering voters. This past weekend one of our canvassers, Nancy, met someone while she was walking from door to door and asked if he was registered to vote. He replied that no, he couldn't register because he was a felon and had been incarcerated. So Nancy had the happy experience to tell him that yes, he can register! In PA people convicted of a felony can register to vote once they are out of prison. So she registered him on the spot! It's quite an exhilarating moment when you register a voter during a canvass. The second story is from a few weeks ago. We were canvassing on a narrow street in Queen Village and a man was sitting outside his house working on his laptop. He was not on our walk list but he overheard our conversations at the doors on his small block and it reminded him he needed to sign up to vote by mail. He did it on the spot and was grateful we were there to give him the reminder to do it! So not only do we talk to voters at the doors and encourage them to vote, we have these serendipitous encounters give us so many other fantastic experiences. Come to our meeting this Thursday (below) and learn more!
