We hope you've been having a good week. This one is jam-packed with good information for you. Today you can sign up for a cool event to learn more about taking action and how to get rid of the anti-democratic filibuster rule in the US Senate. AND we have a meeting with an expert on getting out the vote next week! Sign up for those below.

YOU CAN HELP PHILLY STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT VOTING!
Many of you have told us you're concerned about low turnout in the youth vote, wondering what we can do about it. Here's something you can do!
A Commentary in last Friday's Philadelphia Inquirer noted that there are ways we all can help the School District educate students about voting.
The writers tell us that first, "the Board of Education needs to pass a new civic and voter education policy that ensures students are ready for every election." Residents of Philadelphia can help by asking the board to "pass a policy with the teeth to require the district to support civic education and to implement this programming." Use this link to contact the Board of Education.
At the same time, we can ask our PA lawmakers to support more education funding in the budget. The “Improving Youth Voting and Civic Engagement” bills, HB 1826 and HB 1827, will allow students to preregister to vote at 16, and will provide teachers with the training and resources to improve how they teach civic education. Find your State House member's contact info at this link and ask them to pass these bills.

Next Tuesday our Indivisible Statewide group has a meeting that's so timely. We'll hear from Dr. David Nickerson from Temple University (he's on temporary leave at the moment to consult). He devotes his research and consulting to helping campaigns get out the vote with the most effective and efficient methods. He spoke at one of our meetings way back in 2017 and everyone loved it! So join us for a super interesting and super timely and informative meeting.
