Let's Make Calls About Medicare Part D!

We hope you've been having a wonderful week.  Today we've got a a new one to make calls about.  

CALL TO ACTION

Call our senators and representatives, and demand they reject Trump’s plan to "end a Biden-era program that capped out-of-pocket spending for drugs for Medicare recipients at $2,000 a year."  These were the subsidies provided for Medicare Part D prescription plans. by paying the insurance companies.  "It also allowed Medicare to negotiate prices with drug companies for certain medicines." 

Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, claims that: “We are stabilizing the market so this bailout is no longer needed.”  Sure they are.  

As Heather Cox Richardson explains, this is part of Project 2025 to move seniors into Medicare Part C, with more money for insurance companies.  You can read the history of Medicare and Medicaid and more about this latest lousy move from the regime in this excellent (as usual!) article by Heather Cox Richardson at this link. 

Make calls to our Senators and House reps and tell them you want them to put pressure on the regime to reverse this plan.

Deliverance Health Fare

This is going to be a great event!  It's the Deliverance Health Clinic, a two-day health fare.  There will be FREE dental, medical, and vision screenings and services; Spin and Go mobile laundry; and MORE.  It's open to the community so it is likely to be well attended.  

Getting there: The #33 bus goes right there from Center City. There is a parking lot located in the rear of the building, with designated ADA accessible spots. Look for our table with the Indivisible tablecloth or the signs directing people to voter registration.

Where:  The Alan Horwitz "Sixth Man" Center, 4250 Wissahickon Ave., Philadelphia

When:  Day #1 Saturday, 8/8 10am-12:30pm, 12:30 - 3:00, 3:00 - 5:30 pm

LETTER-WRITING PROJECT

And don't forget!  Sign up for this important letter-writing campaign.  As we saw with our Citizens Bank letter-writing project - and the Citizens announcement they are doing what we demanded - these letters make a difference! 

Our Detention Camp Labor Project, where you'll join over 870 other letter-writers, in pushing companies to commit to not use detention camp labor.  The DCL Team emails volunteers weekly lists of a few corporations or organizations to send letters to. These emails will include details about how to address your letters and key talking points. 

Don't forget - you can help women going to Moshannon

visiting their loved ones. 

Women trying to make their visits to loved ones at Moshannon are turned away over and over again for some shaky reasons or no reason at all.  Sometimes the reason is due to some of the articles of clothing they are wearing. You can send Indivisibles in the area items from this Amazon wish list (we know, it's Amazon, but it works).  Then volunteers will staff the areas outside the entry and hand out the "acceptable" clothing you donate.  (I believe the clothing can be re-used.)

4.  Fitz Friday - 5:00 - 6:00 pm -- Protest at Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick's office at One Summit Square, Langhorne, PA. Bring signs about whatever you want. There's a lot to complain about!

5.  Every Wednesday  4:00 - 5:00 pm -- Join this resistance group at #WeThePeopleWednesdays for Singing for Sanity at High Point Cafe at Allens Lane.

6.  Every Thursday, 4:30 - 6:00 pm.  Join your Northern Liberties neighbors in peaceful protest at the corner of 2nd and Spring Garden Streets. Bring signs or borrow ours!
