We hope you've been having a wonderful week and managing your intake of the news.  But there's still plenty to do, of course.  You can also see last week's Calls To Action for more at this link.

Ok, today is my last link about the joyous throngs from around the world visiting at the World Cup.  This one is a really good enscapsulation of many of the clips, with such uplifting music!  It shows we can come together as people - no problem!  "One beautiful game.  One beautiful truth.  The whole world is welcome and the whole world came through."  I'm not crying - you're crying!

Also, please take note:  This newsletter will be on vacation for a week or so.  So unless there's an emergency, we'll be a bit quieter until we're back.  We hope you're all taking time for yourself as well during this summer - because we're going to be really busy this fall and we'll all need to be in the game!

CALLS TO ACTION

1.  Join the Justice for Lorenzo Mass Call this Wednesday, July 15 to mourn the loss of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and learn about plans for collective action against ICE’s deadly violence against our neighbors (8pm ET/5pm PT). Lorenzo was a dad and husband driving to work with his crew when he was shot and killed by ICE. It’s on us to reject their cruel playbook, demand answers and accountability, and do everything we can to halt the ICE deportation and death machine. Join Wednesday’s call to take action in solidarity with Lorenzo, his family, and all people impacted by ICE’s unchecked violence and terror in communities across the US.

2.  Call our senators and representatives, and demand they reject Trump’s request for $87 BILLION in additional funding to fuel his illegal war with Iran. Trump has steamrolled over bipartisan War Powers Resolutions in Congress and escalated aggression again, just TODAY declaring the US the “Guardian” of the Strait of Hormuz and engaging in heavy drone and missile strikes. Congress needs to act immediately to put an end to Trump’s blatant and unconstitutional abuse of power and reject any more funding for this war.

Don't forget - you can help women going to Moshannon

visiting their loved ones. 

Women trying to make their visits to loved ones at Moshannon are turned away over and over again for some shaky reasons or no reason at all.  Sometimes the reason is due to some of the articles of clothing they are wearing. You can send Indivisibles in the area items from this Amazon wish list (we know, it's Amazon, but it works).  Then volunteers will staff the areas outside the entry and hand out the "acceptable" clothing you donate.  (I believe the clothing can be re-used.)

PROTEST CITIZENS BANK AND TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THEM!

This coming Saturday

Most people have no idea what Citizens Bank does to help ICE detention centers.  Come out and protest the cruelty this bank is financially supporting by lending to GEO Group and Core Civic, the two largest private detention camp companies. The detainees in these prison facilities are fed rancid "food", hardly receive - or don't receive at all - medical treatment, and are forced into solitary confinement at an alarming rate.  

Here in Pennsylvania, GEO operates the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, the largest ICE detention facility in the Northeast. When people in our communities are abducted by ICE, they are usually taken to Moshannon.  We are getting the word out to bring pressure on the bank to stop its relationships with these facilities.

Independence Mall area --

Join us for voter registration as part of the John Lewis Good Trouble Lives On weekend. This Saturday, July 18th we'll register voters around the President's House memorial at 6th and Market Streets.  We'll be there from 10:00 am to Noon.  We'll be registering folks on the corners around Independence Mall.

Rodin Museum -- 

Come out and help register voters at the beautiful Rodin Museum during their Rodin Garden Bar event.  Listen to music, and enjoy the garden oasis.

We'll provide all the materials you need and a quick training at the beginning.

This is an outdoor, weather dependent event, so be sure to check your email that day in case of a last minute cancellation.
