We Have a Busy Week

Happy Tuesday, Activists! We sure have an action-packed week ahead! You'll learn a lot at the Indivisible Convention, you'll learn a lot about abortion access and what we can do to cancel the Dobbs ruling at our Thursday meeting with Kathryn Kolbert, and you can join in any of our actions to persuade voters to turn out this election to get it done. All in one week!

CALL TO ACTION Biden was set to nominate an anti-choice candidate on the day that Roe v. Wade fell but he hasn't done it yet. Read the details here. Make two calls and let Biden know you strongly oppose this nomination. (1) Call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111 (Tuesday-Thursday, 11:00 am-3:00 pm Eastern). Or email the White House at www.whitehouse.gov/contact. Tell them that this nomination is a slap in the face to the millions of Americans who have spoken up about bodily autonomy since the reversal of Roe and an abdication of his duty to represent the American people. Biden can still choose a different nominee. Let’s make sure he does the right thing. (2) Call Senator Casey – Phila office 215-405-9660; D.C. 202-224-6324; email link Tell him that if Biden goes through with it, the Senate must not confirm this nomination. Tell him that Chad Meredith is unfit for a judicial seat. This is a lifetime appointment and a different nominee must be named. For outside PA: Find your Senators’ phone numbers and emails at this link.

THIS THURSDAY - REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM ON THE LINE

Kathryn Kolbert is the co-author of the recently published Controlling Women: What We Must Do Now to Save Reproductive Freedom. She is an expert on the Supreme Court and on laws governing women’s reproductive freedom. Kathryn will discuss the ruling overturning Roe v. Wade and the freedoms based on the same right to privacy in Roe and that the Court may strip away in the future. We’ll learn how to plan our strategy to combat and prevent these regressive and dystopian laws. When: Thursday, July 14, 5:30 pm Where: Zoom Sign up here.
