Happy Friday, Activists!

We hope you're having a good week and keeping yourself sane despite everything that's happening.  Today we give you some information for the very important November 4th election and how you can help get out the vote. Election day is a month away, so let's make sure we and everyone we know understands what's at stake, the candidates, and the processes.

If you ever wondered whether it really mattered that we have a PA Supreme Court controlled by Democrats, note that the court just ruled that voters voters must be notified if election officials are going to reject their mail ballots because of an error such as an incorrect date or a missing signature on the return envelope, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled.  This is huge and it protects voters' rights.

In a 4-3 decision, the court found that Washington County erred in not notifying 2024 presidential primary voters that their mail ballots would be rejected, leaving them unaware their votes would go uncounted.  Now that vote-denying practice is prohibited.

As usual, you can see our most recent newsletters with calls to action, the signup for postcards, and other news at these links:  This past Tuesday's is here.   Last Friday's is here.

And please see our recent fundraising email here.

Thank you all for your very kind donations!  If you haven't already, sign up to get a No Kings t-shirt to wear to the rally!  They're cool and we have over 100 orders already.  If you've ordered already you should receive your shirt in about a week.

As for the wine tasting event, we didn't say it earlier, but Vicki Miller is the wine expert who will lead the event.  Vicki is a certified wine educator (yes, a past life) who has led many such wine tasting events for over a decade.  It'll be fun so make a donation and come on out!

BALLOT &  ELECTION DAY INFO

Here is our all-encompassing informational piece (thank you Christy!) about this election, how the unusual voting works and why.  And of course the candidates on the ballot, with some helpful information about them. The most important races are of course the statewide judicial races for PA Supreme Court, Commonwealth Court and Superior Court.

Check it out for yourself and share with your friends and neighbors.  You'd be surprised how many voters will think this election is not important but are open to hearing about it.  Sharing your knowledge may get a voter to the polls!

The important deadlines --

October 20 -- Deadline to register to vote

October 28 -- Deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot by 5:00 PM

Sign up for a mail-in ballot here.

Mail-in Ballot and Election Day tips --

1.  Election Day is Tuesday, November 4th. Polls are open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.  If you are in line by 8:00 you can still vote.  Find your polling place at this link.

2.  If you have signed up to vote by mail, you can check your ballot status at this link.

3.  Your voted Mail-in Ballot must be received by the Election Board by 8:00 pm on Election Day.  Again track the status of your application and ballot at this link.

4.  Mail your ballot or drop it in a drop box.  Here is the list of drop boxes for Philadelphia.

5.  Find your polling place at this link.

6.  If it is the first time you have voted in your division (at your polling place) you must show ID.  This is the long list of IDs you can use.

7.  More information is at Linktr.ee/VotePHL or call these numbers – 877-868-3772 or 215-686-3469.

8.  Want to vote at the polls after receiving your mail-in ballot? You can!  Take it to the polls (with the envelopes) and they’ll take care of you.

9.  If you have any problems at the polls at all, you can always vote on a provisional ballot. It will be counted.

HELP CURE BALLOTS

You can avoid any trouble with your ballot by filling it out correctly.  Here's is Spotlight PA's complete guide to requesting, completing, and returning your mail ballot.

However, many voters make mistakes with their ballots that need to be corrected in order to be counted.  Historically, Democrats have used mail ballots in PA more than twice as often as Republicans. A significant number of those mail ballots have had errors on their envelopes or ID errors which were never fixed, or "cured," so those votes were never counted!

It is projected that in the upcoming election, roughly 5,000 - 6,000 ballots will again have errors.  These ballots will not count unless voters are informed and take action.  But you can help fix this!

Our friends at VoteProPros are once again running ballot cure canvasses. If you volunteer you'll be making sure that voters with ballot errors are informed and are able to make their votes count.

Voters are first contacted by phone but if they don't answer then the cure canvassers go to their homes to explain how to fix their ballot. Think about it, you will have the chance to actually help a voter have their vote counted when it otherwise wouldn't be.

To be a canvasser, there is a zoom training during the first 2 weeks of October.  Canvassing will take place over 10 days from October 23rd to November 4th (Election Day) and you will likely canvass in pairs. And of course there will be plenty of support throughout.
