![]() ONE MILLION RISING Join The Last Training Next Wednesday!
Indivisible has launched a nationwide effort to train one million people to lead effective non-cooperation at every level. The idea is to train one million people in the strategic logic and practice of non-cooperation, as well as the basics of community organizing and campaign design.
Fighting back requires more than one-off days of protest or calls to Congress (both still vitally important). It requires us to expand our toolbox and construct millions of points of defiance that grind the gears of the regime.
The last training is tomorrow! Sign up! Let’s build a force bigger than fear and louder than hate. Together we can beat back this autocracy.
The last training is from 8 - 9 PM next Wednesday, August 13 Sign up here for the last training session.
![]() NEXT THURSDAY - COME TO OUR ONE MILLION RISING MEETING AND PLAN OUR NON-COOPERATION TACTICS
This is an in-person meeting where we'll plan the ways we all can practice effective non-cooperation, just as the team discussed in the Indivisible trainings. We'll talk about the pillars of support of the autocracy and how we can convince a pillar it's not in their interest to cooperate.
First, we'll have a quick review of why we are doing this and how this strategy works in breaking down the pillars of the autocracy's support. Then we'll meet in small groups to discuss what part of a pillar each of us is involved in. Are we in an alumni association, a professional association, a faith group, are you just a consumer? This is where your power lies and that's what we'll talk about. This is your power! Sign up here.
Indivisible talked about inviting friends and neighbors to your own event. Invite them to this event too and they can join your small group. And we'll have pizza and beverages!
This meeting is in Center City. We plan to have another one in Northwest Philly and one in the Northeast. So stay tuned for those announcements!
When: Thursday, August 14, 5:30 - 7:00 PM Where: The Ethical Society, First Floor, 1906 Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia
![]() TOMORROW - RALLY TO SAVE SEPTA FROM BUDGET CUTS
Senate Republicans are holding Pennsylvania’s budget hostage, including crucial investments in transit. The House has passed multiple funding bills, but the state budget is now a month late because the Republican-controlled Senate leadership is stalling, and we are dangerously close to SEPTA being forced to cut service.
We need Senate leadership to get back to Harrisburg and finish the budget. We will only win when we organize together. On August 24th, SEPTA's service cuts will begin and will be felt by families, small business, and communities throughout Southeastern PA and across the state. Come rally for transit funding.
When: TOMORROW, August 6th at 11:00 AM Where: North apron of City Hall
![]() THIS SATURDAY - SUPPORT ANOU AND BRING HIM HOME
Anou is the owner of Das Good Cafe in Germantown. On July 27th, ICE arrested and detained him. Now, he faces deportation back to Laos - a country he doesn't know. He doesn’t speak the language or have any community there. Anou has a home, a family, and a life in America. We are coming together to demand ICE release Anou and reunite him with his family. Join us on Saturday to rally for Anou!
Where: 322 W. Chelten Ave., at Das Good Cafe When: August 9th 1:00 PM
![]() COME TO THE MOSHANNON DETENTION CENTER PROTEST COME ON THE BUS WITH US!
If you've wondered what you can do to push back against this regime's tactics and stand up for detainees who have been illegally abducted by ICE, join us at this statewide protest at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center. Moshannon is the largest ICE processing center in the northeast. And people abducted by ICE in Philadelphia and the surrounding area are likely to be sent there. It is documented that conditions there are cruel and extreme. We need to stand up for humanity and against these illegal abductions. And we'll go together om the bus we've chartered.
We are paying for the bus and we ask you to donate just $15.00 for the trip. We'll provide snacks and water. The bus has a bathroom as well.
Where: Our bus will leave from 30th Street Station. When: Sunday, August 24, 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
LEAFLET PHILLY!
Sign up now to be part of the August leaflet drop, just in time for the start of the school year (see the leaflet below)! If you wait too long you'll just start in September, no problem. This program is for people who live in Philadelphia, as at the moment we can't assign blocks for those in other counties. Sign up here to join this fantastic team.
This project is a fun, easy way to increase voter engagement across Philadelphia (and maybe burn off some of that anxiety we're all feeling). Sign up now to be in the August leafletting.
Each month we design a door hanger with a simple, timely and compelling message for our neighbors. The door hangers will link Republicans to the chaos and misery they create and show Philadelphians how they can take action — with the goals of moving people into action and of increasing voter turnout over the next four years. Sign up here. You'll get 100 door hangers to simply hang on every door up and down blocks near you. It’s quick and easy — no knocking, just leave the leaflet on the door and stroll on to the next one! We'll give you a walk list. You pick the day that’s most convenient for you and repeat a month later. Sign up here.
Here's the August door hanger, coming out soon! 👇
