Happy Tuesday, Activists!
We hope you are having a good week so far. Of course, the government is likely to shut down tomorrow so we're not sure how things will look after that. Right now we have work to do to make sure Democrats stay strong this time to do what they can to return healthcare funding and other healthcare coverage to people who will lose it from the Big Bad Bill.
But, as usual, we have a lot you can do to relieve your anxiety. See below!
You can see our most recent newsletters with calls to action and other projects you can be part of at these links: last Tuesday here and last Friday here.
JOIN LEAFLET PHILLY!

CALL TO ACTION
Federal government funding runs out tomorrow – and Republicans need Democrats’ votes to clear the Senate filibuster and avoid a government shutdown. The House passed a bill that was defeated in the Senate. We know Democrats have real leverage here, and they are showing a little backbone. They must use their leverage to protect our rights, healthcare, and essential services.
Now, we must make calls to stiffen their spines. Our goal is not a shutdown -- it’s building an opposition party that uses its leverage to reduce human harm and slow the march toward authoritarianism. Republicans will not change course if they think they can just roll over Dems again. Watch Congressman Brendan Boyle's video, explaining that yesterday the House was supposed to be in session but Speaker Johnson shut it down, so they could not vote as scheduled.
Dems need to know we have their back -- and they need to know that millions of people will be out in the streets for No Kings on October 18 to cheer them on or hold them accountable. So come to our No Kings 2.0!
Call Senator Fetterman and tell him you expect him to fight like hell to protect our care and communities! Call Senator McCormick and tell him to publicly back BIPARTISAN funding that protects healthcare – or pay the price for causing a shutdown! Here are the contacts: Sen. McCormick – Phila office 215-405-9660; D.C. office 202-224-6324; email link Sen. Fetterman – Phila office 215-241-1090; D.C. 202-224-4254; email link For outside PA: Find your senators’ phone numbers and emails at this link.
And speaking of No Kings. . . .
