Happy Friday, Activists!

We hope you've had a good week.  If you missed it, check out our newsletter from Tuesday at this link for more information.  Today we have a new Call To Action and a new Voter Registration event, plus the usual stuff!  We look forward to seeing you there!

Plus, here's a follow-up to the information we gave you in a recent newsletter about the fraud spam texts we all get with mysterious PACs asking for money, supposedly going to candidates.  For some ideas for how to donate in a way that makes a difference, check out this good advice from the Borowitz Report at this link. Hope that helps!

SUPPORT LABOR UNIONS ON LABOR DAY!

Join us Monday, September 1 to support our unions at this time when they are under threat.  We'll meet to join our friends from Peace, Justice and Sustainability Now and other groups also supporting this.  We'll be on Delaware Avenue near Washington Avenue (in the abandoned railroad tracks) as the a group of unions organized by AFSCE District Council 47 launches their Labor Day parade down Delaware Ave (the street will be closed). Bring your signs - showing support for unions or against the regime that wants to abolish them.

NEW TIMES -- The groups will assemble between 9:30 and 10:00 and the parade begins at 10:00.  This is on the abandoned tracks across from the Sheetmetal Workers Union hall on Delaware Ave. See this map for details.

Then we'll head to the Monday's at McCormick's protest at 20th and Market Streets, which starts at 12:00 Noon.  See you there!

Our Next One Million Rising Meeting

Our next meeting in NW Philly is sold out!  So we are planning another one and will have more on that very soon.  Stay tuned!

CALL TO ACTION

Believe it or not, after the recent Big Ugly Bill fights, we're about to be in the midst of more funding fights.  Federal government funding runs out on September 30 -- setting up a massive monthlong battle to pass a budget and avert a government shutdown.

But this time, the GOP absolutely needs votes from Democrats to get a bill to Trump's desk. A united Democratic front has the power to block extreme MAGA policies and even reverse some damage Trump has done.

So we have calls to make!  First, Senator Fetterman was among the ten weak-willed Democrats who joined the Schumer Surrender in March, and ever since, Trump has only become even more dangerous and authoritarian.

And second, of course Senator McCormick was fully onboard to pass the horrible cuts to services so they could give the richest people and companies big tax breaks.

But this time we have real leverage to fight back!  So we need to call John Fetterman and insist he stand strong this time so Democrats can block any budget that funds Trump’s chaos or locks in his healthcare cuts.  And we must call Dave McCormick and tell him if the government shuts down, Republicans will OWN IT.

Tell John Fetterman that we need to see courage, not cowardice from him! He cannot surrender to Republicans’ dangerous budget again.

Tell Dave McCormick that you demand he publicly commit to a bipartisan budget process -- or face the consequences of causing a Trump Shutdown.
