Happy Tuesday, Activists!

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and that you're having a good week so far.

Today we have a variety of actions you can take, from super quick phone calls to elected officials, to hanging door hangers, and to joining a protest to show we're not accepting a cruel, authoritarian system.

So pick what you want and go for it!  Remember, when you do this work you'll relieve your anxiety and meet some nice people!

 PROTEST AT CITIZENS BANK

Citizens Bank has long financed private prison and detention facility companies even though there have been years of allegations of forced labor, healthcare neglect, and other abuses. Citizens is a lender to companies like CoreCivic and GEO Group, which have caused widespread, documented harm to people in their facilities.

In Pennsylvania, GEO operates the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, the largest ICE detention facility in the Northeast.  It is where most of our neighbors are taken after ICE abducts them off the street.

Join us at our protests outside Citizen branches - this Saturday at the two listed below.  We'll have handouts for you to give people walking by and you can bring your signs!

When:  THIS SATURDAY, December 6th, 10:00AM to 11:30AM

Where: Two locations for you to choose from -

1515 Market Street - Sign up here

900 South Street (near Whole Foods) - Sign up here

SUPPORT THE NEW WAR POWERS RESOLUTION

Congress must do its job!

Senator Tim Kaine plans to introduce a new resolution for Congress to finally do its job and require Congressional authorization for war before Trump just decides on his own to take our country into war in Venezuela.  "We think the escalating pace and . . . for example, the recent revelation about the 'kill everyone' order apparently dictated by Secretary Hegseth. We do believe that we will get more support for these motions when they are refiled."

You may know that Senator Kaine has filed these resolutions before but has never quite gotten enough votes.  Call our senators and tell them you expect them to sign on to this resolution and require the authorization of military force by Congress.

WRITE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

The team is getting rave reviews!

"I'm grateful for the work you do and this letter-writing community you've created. Having this support certainly got me going on letter writing, something I might not have done on my own, and your emails remind me to keep doing it."

These are the words of one of our letter writers to Meg Berlin, our LTE Team lead.  We couldn't be more proud of this team for all its work getting the word out. And another letter, written by team member Maria, was just published!  That's in addition to the many others already published.

Join this fantastic team and learn the best techniques for getting your views published.  We'll give you topical ideas and tips to effectively send your thoughts to folks willing to consider another point of view.

Even if you're just not sure if you want to join, you can sign up and find out more to make your decision.  Sign up here.

Or just get answers to your questions by emailing us here.

JOIN OUR LEAFLET PHILLY TEAM!

Join this exciting team and hang door hangers once a month. It's easy and effective!

Here's how it works. You'll receive 100 door hangers to hang on door knobs up and down the block. We'll give you the specific blocks near your home for you to go to.

We're currently dropping 54,000 door hangers around the city right now - that's 10% of the city's reachable doors!  We're reminding people that those higher food prices for their holiday meals are not in their imagination - plus who is causing it and who to call about it.
