Two Big Things
Happy Friday, Activists!
First, please do us a favor and click this simple link to our website or any other link in here to help us reduce the number of bounced emails and so the newsletter gets delivered to you right way. Thanks!
We hope your week has been going well. Today I'm not going to list everything you can do to work on this election to make voting safer, more secure and well, just plain good. You can go to the last several newsletters on election protection here, here, here, and here. We'll have a very streamlined yet comprehensive list next week.
Today I want to focus on the two big events we have coming up and how important they are. And they're related to each other. ![]()
INDIVISIBLE PHILADELPHIA SUFFS FUNDRAISER! Featuring Shaina Taub (live on video)
We are looking at a bunch of expenses for No Kings and we are thrilled we can put on a terrific event from a terrific broadway show, to help raise some funds to support our No Kings efforts. SUFFS is the amazing, Tony Award-winning musical about the suffragist movement and their struggles and victories. Sound familiar? You can watch the entire SUFFS performance that was aired on PBS at this link. It's free on Youtube.
The author and star of SUFFS, Shaina Taub, who plays Alice Paul in the show, will join us on video. We are so fortunate that Ms. Taub told us she loves Indivisible and is happy to help us with our No Kings fundraising. So we'll gather together for some food and drink and then watch Shaina interview of Shaina Taub as we have a Q&A with her. You'll be able to submit questions to her.
We hope you can pitch in and come to what is sure to be a really fun and enlightening event. Again, you can watch a recording of the show at this link and if you haven't seen it already, we know you'll be thrilled to have seen it. Got teenagers? Have them watch it too! It's a story of struggle, smart organizing, and victory. Well, that's a goal, ain't it!!
You'll hear about the strength of the suffragist movement and how they "kept marching" to victory.
When: OCTOBER 28, 5:00 PM Where: The Ethical Society, 1903 Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia |

And here's a reason we need to hold the fundraiser! But it's worth it! It's so very important that we show up on October 17 to encourage voters to vote "early." And to register to vote if they need to and to sign up for a mail-in ballot if they haven't.
Do you have friends who say they are too busy to come to No Kings? Check out this piece for persuasive ideas to convince them to come. It's important.
We are encouraging voters to sign up for a mail-in ballot and to drop their voted ballot off in a drop box or at a Satellite Election Office early. That's Pennsylvania's idea of voting early.
Here's how we help voters bank their votes early. Our No Kings events take place at the Philadelphia Satellite Election Offices (SEOs). You can see the list of all those offices at this link. The idea is that a voter can apply for a mail-in ballot, hand it in at the SEO, get their ballot back and vote the ballot, and then drop it in the drop box at the SEO - all in one quick trip! It's now called "On Demand Voting" that can start happening now!
Let's all show up so voters know that voting in our state is safe and secure! The more we show up with bigger numbers at the events, the more comfortable folks will be to be part of the vote. And it'll be fun! We'll have balloons, signs, maybe some food and music (if you'd like to provide some music reply to this newsletter and let me know!).
After you check out the map of the SEOs, please tell us which office you want to go to at this link. We'll have two shifts so also sign up for a shift at this link.
When: Saturday, October 17, 2 shifts 11:00 - 1:00 & 1:00 - 3:00 (This is a change in shift times). But come whenever you can! Where: Again, see the locations of the SEO offices at this link and then tell us which office you want to go to at this link. Sign up for a shift at this link.
