![]() NO KINGS 2.0!
Yes, it's coming! It's time for us to raise our voices again against the autocracy forming in front of us. That means it's time for another No Kings protest to show we will do all we can to ensure that it fails.
The next No Kings protest will be on Saturday, October 18th. Our plan is for a rally and march from City Hall to Independence Mall where we'll have music and hear from some exciting speakers.
As you may know, yesterday was the "soft rollout" of No Kings 2.0, so more details will be coming. But we know from the questions we're getting that you are excited about this and want to know where you can sign up. And this is it! We're starting to make our plans for a meaningful and exciting event. Sign up now so you get all the updates.
When: Saturday, October 18, Noon Where: North apron of City Hall with a march to Independence Mall
![]() Two New One Million Rising Meetings
We have two new in-person meetings as part of the One Million Rising project. We hope you can come to one of them if you haven't signed up for one or come to one of the other ones.
At the meeting, we'll have a quick review of why we are doing this and how this strategy works in breaking down the pillars of the autocracy's support. Then we'll meet in small groups to discuss what part of a pillar each of us is involved in. Are we in an alumni association, a professional association, a faith group, are you just a consumer? This is where your power lies and that's what we'll talk about. This is your power! Please invite a couple of friends and neighbors too and they can join your small group. And we'll have pizza and beverages!
For those of you who have already come to one of these, we will set up follow-up meetings on zoom. Stay tuned for those.

CALL TO ACTION 🤖 👽 SAY NO TO ROBOT AI MEDICAID CUTS 👽 🤖
Remember when the Republicans were telling the country that the ACA would bring "death panels"? Well surprise, surprise - now they are actually starting death panels with AI robots.
According to the New York Times (gift article): “The federal government plans to hire private companies to use artificial intelligence to determine whether patients would be covered for some procedures, like certain spine surgeries or steroid injections. Similar algorithms used by insurers have been the subject of several high-profile lawsuits, which have asserted that the technology allowed the companies to swiftly deny large batches of claims and cut patients off from care in rehabilitation facilities.”
The six states in Medicare's trial run are Arizona, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Washington. That means health care decisions for Medicare patients in those states will now be made by AI algorithms from for-profit tech companies. What could go wrong?
And the icing on the dystopian cake is that the AI companies will get a cut of the savings they generate. So now they'll have a powerful incentive to deny more treatments. Simply put: the worse it is for patients, the more money these companies will make. It’s a cut to Medicare services designed to enrich tech barons -- not exactly protecting Medicare!
Call all of our federal elected officials and tell them you're furious about this move and that Robot AI Medicare Cuts must be stopped immediately. Rep. And Don't Forget To Leaflet Philly!
Are you looking for a fun, easy and effective way to increase voter engagement across Philadelphia (and maybe burn off some of that anxiety we are all feeling)? We've got the project for you. It's been exciting so far, with over 350 of you already signing up. Every month we'll be leafleting Philly — with the goal of every home, all across the city. So we have a ways to go and we hope you'll join us!Here's how it works. Each month we will design a door hanger with a simple, timely and compelling message for our neighbors. The door hangers will link Republicans to the chaos and misery they are creating and show Philadelphians how they can take action — with the ultimate goal of increasing voter turnout and calls to our elected officials. Sign up here. You are the key to this project's success. The more volunteer leafletters we have, the more neighbors we can reach. You'll get 100 door hangers to simply hang on every door up and down the block. It’s quick and easy - no knocking, just leave the leaflet on the door and stroll on to the next one. We'll give you a list of the doors for you to go to near your home. You pick the day that’s most convenient for you (basically sometime during the week after you receive your packet of door hangers). We'll repeat it a month later with a new door hanger.
If you sign up now you'll be all set to start with the September door hangers. If you sign up after September 5th you'll start with the October door hangers.
We look forward to working with you!
